About Us

Knowledge, Network, Voice – Action

The International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) educates, connects, and empowers professionals to lift quality standards everywhere.

Improving Quality in Healthcare Since 1985

The International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) is a leading organisation dedicated to improving healthcare safety and quality worldwide. As a neutral, not-for-profit Community, we bring together clinicians, executives, policymakers, regulators, and patient advocates from across 80+ countries to support system-wide transformation.

Through our educational courses, membership programmes, globally recognised external evaluation, and yearly conference, ISQua gives healthcare professionals the tools, peer support, and global platform to turn knowledge into action.

Our Mission

To inspire and drive improvement in the quality and safety of healthcare worldwide through education and knowledge sharing, external evaluation, supporting health systems, and connecting people through global networks.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be the global leader of transformation in healthcare quality and safety for all.

Our Values

These are the core values that guide our organisation in the pursuit of higher quality healthcare.

Excellence

We keep learning, improving, and asking the hard questions – so we, and the people we work with, keep raising the bar in healthcare quality and patient safety.

Evidence-Based

Decisions, standards, and courses are grounded in peer-reviewed research and global case data – so you act on what works, not what’s fashionable.

Person-Centred

Patients and families co-design our guidance, ensuring that dignity, respect, and shared decision-making remain non-negotiable in every care setting.

Sustainability

Quality care must also be climate-resilient. We embed environmental stewardship into accreditation principles, education tracks, and advocacy.

Equity

We prioritise access for low- and middle-income countries, marginalised communities, and early-career professionals.

Integrity

Independent governance, open financial reporting, and conflict-of-interest safeguards keep our advice impartial and our reputation trustworthy.

Our Future

ISQua’s 2022–2026 Strategy

Our current board-approved strategy focuses on 3 key strategic objectives to drive our mission more effectively:

  • Increase Value: More relevant resources. Easier access to content. A brand-new website. We’re simplifying how you learn, connect, and get value from ISQua – every day.
  • Extend Reach: Increasing access, supporting underserved communities, and ensuring diverse perspectives are part of every conversation.
  • Strengthen Partnerships: Deeper partnerships. Joint projects. More shared knowledge. We’re teaming up with like-minded organisations to drive bigger change, faster.

Join us to improve your Knowledge, build your Network, make your Voice heard, and take Action.

Every safer system, every better patient outcome, every breakthrough starts with a professional who asks, “How can this be improved?”. ISQua is where those professionals come together.

Knowledge

Provide trusted, evidence-based learning and research to support quality improvement.

Network

Connect healthcare professionals from all over the world to collaborate and share expertise.

Voice

Amplify the voices of healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers to drive global change.

Action

Turn knowledge into practical solutions that improve care quality, transform systems, and save lives.

Our Impact

ISQua’s work spans education, evaluation, publication, and international advocacy. Here’s how:

Education & Knowledge Sharing

Online courses, certificates, and webinars help professionals apply evidence-based practices and grow their careers.

External Evaluation & Accreditation

Through the IEEA, we benchmark standards that help organisations prove (and improve) their commitment to safe, effective care.

Publication

We develop and publish journals, white papers, and resources for the development of health and social care standards.

Global Networking & Advocacy

Conferences, peer groups, and communities of practice connect 80+ countries, giving members a powerful collective voice.

Our History

ISQua began with a simple conviction: when healthcare professionals learn from one another, patients everywhere benefit. Founded in 1985, ISQua began as a small group of visionaries working to improve healthcare safety through global collaboration.

Since then, we’ve grown into a worldwide organisation supporting thousands of professionals across 80+ countries. Over the decades, ISQua has supported health system reforms, accreditation development, and the spread of quality improvement training across continents. And we’re still growing.
