The International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) is delighted to announce that applications for appointment to the ISQua Board will be accepted from 6th August 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced healthcare leaders who are passionate about improving the quality and safety of healthcare globally to contribute to ISQua’s strategic direction and help shape the future of healthcare systems around the world.
Make a Global Impact
For more than 40 years, ISQua has brought together healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, educators and organisations committed to advancing healthcare quality and patient safety. As a Board member, you will play a vital role in guiding the organisation’s strategic priorities, strengthening international partnerships, and supporting our mission to inspire quality improvement across diverse healthcare settings.
Board members serve on a voluntary basis and work collaboratively to provide strategic leadership, ensure effective governance, act as ambassadors for ISQua, and contribute to Board committees and advisory groups. The Board meets virtually six times each year, with up to two in-person meetings annually, for which travel expenses are covered.
Who Should Apply?
We welcome applications from individuals with demonstrated knowledge and experience in healthcare quality and safety who are committed to making a positive difference internationally.
This year, we are particularly seeking candidates who can strengthen the Board’s expertise in areas including:
- Change leadership
- Education and professional development
- Global health, particularly experience within low- and middle-income countries
- Consultancy and advisory services
- Business development and strategic growth

Appointment Details
In 2026, ISQua will appoint five new Board members, two of whom must be Irish residents in accordance with the requirements of the Irish Charity Regulator.
Successful applicants will serve a three-year term, with the opportunity for reappointment for a second consecutive term.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Demonstrate experience or knowledge in healthcare quality and safety.
- Be available to fulfil Board responsibilities and attend meetings.
- Be supported by two ISQua members in good standing.
- Become an ISQua member if appointed (non-members are welcome to apply).
Key Dates
The 2026 Board appointment process will follow the timeline below:
- 6 August 2026 – Applications open
- 17 September 2026 – Applications close
- Mid October 2026 – Shortlisted candidates contacted
- Late October 2026 – Interviews
- 13 November 2026 – Successful applicants notified
- 9 December 2026 – New Board members formally endorsed at the ISQua Annual General Meeting
