On the1st May 2020 Dr Samir Sinah and Dr Warren Wong joined us for a webinar on how aged care staff have experienced the pandemic and the impact it has had on older persons and their families

This webinar explored how aged care staff have experienced the pandemic and the impact it has had on older persons and their families.


Restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have disproportionately affected those in residential and long-term care facilities, and has taken a toll on those who are caring from them.


This webinar explored the challenges, lessons learned and the possible aftermath of this crisis from those at the front line of aged care.

About the Presenters:


Dr Samir Sinha
Dr. Samir Sinha is a passionate and respected advocate for the needs of older adults. Dr. Sinha currently serves as the Director of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai and the University Health Network Hospitals in Toronto and was recently appointed the Peter and Shelagh Godsoe Chair in Geriatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital.
In 2012 he was appointed by the Government of Ontario to serve as the expert lead of Ontario’s Seniors Strategy. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medicine, Family and Community Medicine, and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Sinha’s breadth of international training and expertise in health policy and the delivery of services related to the care of the elderly have made him a highly regarded expert in the care of older adults.


Dr. Warren Wong
Warren Wong has dedicated his professional life to the care of older adults.
Early in his career he was a physician at On Lok Senior Health Services in San Francisco Chinatown. On Lok is the original site of the nationally renowned PACE organization (Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly). Dr. Wong went on to develop the geriatrics service at Kaiser Permanente in Hawaii. In that role, he established the Geriatrics consultation service, the nursing home program and home visit program. He also played an instrumental role in developing palliative care.
Dr. Wong went on to become a physician lead for the organization wide Kaiser Permanente Aging Network and a senior physician consultant for Kaiser Permanente’s Care Management Institute. He designed "Senior Segmentation", a strategy for population care of older adults that is being implemented throughout Kaiser Permanente's one million older adult members.
Dr Wong is currently Clinical Professor of Geriatric Medicine at John A. Burns University of Hawaii School of Medicine, and a physician at Straub Medical Center specializing in Geriatric Medicine.
