The French Authority for Health (HAS) celebrates 20 years as an Institutional Member of ISQua.

This commitment of the HAS has enabled it, throughout these years, to increase its international network with institutions which share the same objectives in the field of improving the quality and safety of care, to benefit from their experience and to enhance the French point of view in these different fields.

The International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) and the International Hospital Federation (IHF) attended the World Health Organization (WHO) Consultation on Global Patient Safety 2020-2030 in Geneva, Switzerland, from 24th - 26th February 2020.

Quality is made up of interconnecting circles of complex activity; however, we are conditioned to see and think in quality straight lines. What we see depends on what we are prepared to see. Without exploring assumptions, healthcare organizations will be held hostage to indifference to quality failure and will be unable to reach quality improvement potential.

Applications for the 2020 Lucian Leape Patient Safety Fellowship are now being accepted. We asked our 2019 recipient, Dr Subhrojyoti Bhowmick, to share his opinion of the Fellowship, and the value he has gained from it.

ISQua is offering applicants who were born in, work in, or intend to return to work in Africa, Latin America or any Low and Lower- Middle-Income countries, the opportunity to apply for the 2020 Lucian Leape Fellowship. This programme supports one physician or health care leader to advance and expand their expertise in patient safety, and improve the safety of patients in their local area.
