Over the next 10 years, the World Health Organization (WHO), its global partners and its Member States will be working tirelessly to help all people of the world to have access to health services. As per the mandate of World Health Assembly resolution WHA72.6 (May 2019): “Towards Zero Patient Harm in Health Care: Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021-2030” (First Draft, August 2020) is now open for public consultation.

Infection Prevention and Control Global Unit, Department of Safety Delivery and Service, WHO; and Dr Shams B. Syed, Coordinator, Universal Health Coverage and Quality Unit, Department of Service Delivery and Safety, WHO.
In May 2019, WHO approved the resolution on Global Patient Safety Action on Patient Safety in the 73rd WHO Assembly (WHA). This resolution was developed under the strong leadership of Dr Tedros Adahanom Ghebreyesus WHO-DG; R.H. Jeremy Hunt, former Secretary of State for Health, UK; Sir Liam Donaldson, WHO Patient Safety Envoy; and many other passionate leaders through the previous Ministerial Summits on Patient Safety.
