From Policy to Practice: Turning the ISQua Patient Safety White Paper into Action
The session will focus on translating the recommendations of the ISQua Patient Safety White Paper (https://login.isqua.org/resources/safe-care-is-the-right-care-the-isqua-white-paper-on-patient-safety-for-healthcare-organisations) into practical, implementable actions at the frontline, including real-world experiences, challenges, and lessons from diverse healthcare settings.
The white paper outlines four foundational pillars for Patient Safety in Health Care Organisations: Advocacy and Leadership, Health Worker Education and Safety, Patient, Family and Carer Engagement and Empowerment, and Improvement in Clinical Processes.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Understand how the ISQua Patient Safety White Paper and its four foundational pillars can be implemented across diverse healthcare settings.
2. Learn from real-world implementation experiences from pilot hospitals in India, Jordan, the UAE, and Brazil, representing both low- and high-resource settings.
3. Identify key barriers, enablers, and contextual factors influencing the successful implementation of patient safety interventions.
4. Assess the impact of implementation initiatives on safety culture, clinical processes, and patient engagement.
5. Apply practical implementation tools to translate patient safety policy into sustainable frontline practice within their organisations.

Dr Anuradha Pichumani
OBGYN, Executive Director and Co-founder·Sree Renga Hospital & Narbhavi Multispecialty Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Tamil Nādu, India
Dr. Anuradha Pichumani is a distinguished OBGYN, Executive Director and Co-founder of two hospitals in Tamil Nādu, India (Sree Renga Hospital & Narbhavi Multispecialty Hospital Pvt. Ltd.). She has extensive expertise in OBGYN, Infertility. Healthcare Quality, Patient Safety, and Person – Centred care. Over the last thirty years, through her leadership and management skills, she has trained and implemented patient safety standards in public and private healthcare organisations, utilizing implementation science in healthcare transformation in LMIC.
She is a Board member of ISQua – The International Society for Quality and Healthcare and ASQua – Asian Society for Quality and Healthcare, facilitating knowledge sharing and driving strategic partnerships; a member of ISQua Patient Safety Task Force.
She is an Associate Faculty at Ariadne Labs (Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health) and implemented Quality Collaborative projects to improve patient safety in labour rooms. She has completed the Global Healthcare Delivery Intensive Program at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
She is a Principal Assessor, NABH – National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare and Chair of Quality Professionals Wing of Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations (CAHO), India.
She has won many awards for her commitment to healthcare quality – FOGSI – KCDM National Digital Award for Maternal Care 2026, CAHO Quality Champion award, QIMPRO Award. Her research publications include topics on healthcare implementation, patient safety and the impact of climate change on health in BMJ, Revista Science Brazil and IJQHC International Journal for Quality in Healthcare.
She is the Lead Author of the ISQua White Paper on Patient Safety for Healthcare Organisations, released at the 7th WHO Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety in April 2025, in Manila, Philippines.
