What did you find most beneficial?
I learnt a lot about leadership and crisis management.
I learnt that crisis being an unforeseen sudden event, can present in any form, can be prolonged, can end abruptly and can take unexpected directions. In any situation, I should plan for crisis because in so doing, I then have a plan. I also then have a plan for many other crises that can be triggered by the crisis.
What did you like most about the programme?
I enjoyed the flexibility of presentation of the modules. I could listen and watch and have the modules downloaded. I also enjoyed that very practical scenarios were presented in the modules.
Have you been able to apply anything you learned to your role?
Recent postgraduate studies where I have worked as a senior registrar in the Department of Family medicine in both the community and hospital settings has greatly improved my knowledge of disease prevention, healthcare, and quality improvement. The department also oversees emergency cases presenting at the primary Health Centre and residents are in charge of patient care. I am in charge of the welfare of residents. This can be quite challenging because it involves individual and collective interests. This training has reaffirmed that I am a leader who should motivate and inspire to boost morale. I should be transparent, be a team player, collaborate and integrate ideas for a common goal.
