This session brought together senior leaders from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR), including Prof. Dr. Ahmed A. Taha, Chairman of GAHAR, alongside Board Members Dr. Walaa Abd El-Latif and Dr. Elsayed Elokda.
In his session, “Building a Just, Learning Safety Culture and the Role of GAHAR,” Prof. Taha will provided a comprehensive overview of what defines a just culture and a learning safety culture, and why these concepts are critical to improving quality of care. He explored the relationship between safety culture and healthcare outcomes, approaches to building and sustaining a just culture, methods for measuring safety culture, and common barriers organisations face in this journey. He also highlights the pivotal role of GAHAR in driving national progress in safety and quality through accreditation and regulation.
Dr. Elsayed Elokda presented the “Top 10 Safety Challenges in Healthcare,” offering practical insights into the most pressing safety issues facing healthcare systems today and strategies to address them.
Together, the panel provided valuable, real-world perspectives from Egypt’s healthcare system, with relevance for a global audience.
