ISQua is pleased to announce that Professor Ezequiel García-Elorrio MD MSc MBA PhD, Director, Calidad, Seguridad del Paciente y Gestión Clínica/ Director Health Care Quality and Patient Safety, Director de Administración/Director of Administration & Finance, Instituto de Efectividad Clínica y Sanitaria/ Institute for Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy, Buenos Aires, Argentina has been elected by the Board of ISQua as President Elect. Ezequiel, who is also a member of the prestigious  ISQua International Academy of Quality & Safety (IAQS), will serve in this role until October 2023, when he assumes the role of President. He will also serve as Honorary Treasurer of the Society.  

Responding to Ezequiel’s election ISQua President Jeffrey Braithwaite said:

Ezequiel has been involved with ISQua for over a decade and a half, has contributed greatly, and has championed our work throughout Latin America. He is the second President Elect from Latin America, and follows in the footsteps of Past President Dr Enrique Ruelas MD, MPA, MHSc from Mexico, another wonderful representative from the region. Warmest congratulations, Ezequiel – welcome to the post, and thank you for taking on this new role amongst all your busy professional activities. Your many friends and colleagues in ISQua are looking forward to working with you as you assume the responsibilities of President Elect.

I feel honoured to have been appointed as President Elect by such a prestigious group of experts in the field of healthcare quality. It will be my privilege to serve you during my tenure and my vision is that we all contribute, free from any preferential interest, to the sustainable continuity of ISQua through delivering valuable services, where all stakeholders feel recognised. Our ultimate goal is to improve health and health care, with a continuing commitment to reduce global inequalities. Along my more than 25 years long career working as a clinician, researcher, implementor and advocate having worked in many regions of the world, I grew an enormous passion for healthcare quality and I have in high regard all of its format and models. I also value the importance of partnerships and collaboration to reach faster to our goals. Present times are exceedingly challenging and we need to do our best to support ISQua to continue accomplishing its mission worldwide. Finally, my utmost desire is to give back to ISQua during these difficult times, bringing people together. To contribute to the expansion and  sustainability and along with my fellow members and staff, delivering evidence based, impactful and culturally sensitive interventions and to make all voices heard
