2022 HAL Career Achievement Announcement - Prize Recipient Featured

We would like to offer our sincere congratulations to Ron D. Hays, PhD Distinguished Professor, Department of Medicine, the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA); Professor, Department of Health Policy and Management, UCLA School of Public Health; Senior Social Policy Analyst, RAND who has been awarded the 2022 Health Assessment Lab/Medical Outcomes Trust* John Ware and Alvin Tarlov Career Achievement Prize in Patient-Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMs).

 

The award is named in honour of the Health Assessment Laboratory/Medical Outcomes Trust's founders, Dr John E. Ware, Jr., and Dr Alvin Tarlov - two of the world’s leading pioneers in the development and use of patient-reported outcome measures.

 

The successful candidate will have made significant contributions to the field of PROMs throughout their career.

 

This award will be presented to Prof Hays on 18th October as part of ISQua’s 38th International Conference in Brisbane, Australia. Following the presentation, Prof Hays will give the opening keynote plenary session, on the topic ‘The Value of Patient Reports about their Health and Health Care’.

 

Ron D. Hays, PhD, is a Distinguished Professor in the UCLA Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research.  He is a social psychologist who has been a principal investigator for the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) project since 1995. 

 

Ron specializes in patient-reported measurement development and evaluation of patient experience with health care and health-related quality of life. He has been acknowledged as one of the most highly cited and influential scientific minds by Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics in each of the last 7 years.
